So… Christmas 2021 feels a little bit like Groundhog Day, doesn’t it? I don’t want to dwell on the alarming news and statistics that we’re being bombarded with right now, but I’d be lying if I said things didn’t feel a little bleak at the moment.

Last year I talked about the importance of concentrating on what we’d gained throughout such a dreadful year, such as more time with our families, and appreciating the simpler pleasures of human connections, and it’s just as important this year to focus on those nuggets of joy when everything else feels a little bit grey.

We don’t know what the next few weeks are going to bring us: will there be a new lockdown? Will we be able to spend Christmas Day with the people we love? Are our family and friends going to stay safe and well? It’s enough to send the most optimistic person into a bit of a spiral.

So instead of telling you to put your Santa hat on and grin through the angst, my wish for you all is that you find something that brings you comfort and joy. It could be snuggling under a blanket and watching ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ for the 85th time. It might be enjoying a massive hot chocolate with marshmallows AND whipped cream. It could even be belting out Christmas carols at the top of your voice while you clean the house!

Whatever you choose, let it spark a small flame of internal happiness that gives you light and warmth in these darker times: they won’t last forever.

Wishing you all a peaceful, safe and joyous time, from all of us at VA Agency!
